Ventures in Community Hypothermia Outreach Program (VIC-HOP)

Venture in Community’s Hypothermia Outreach Program (VIC-HOP) is a temporary overnight shelter operated by County staff and supported by volunteer faith and non-profit organizations December – March. This year, VIC-HOP is back at Rising Hope Mission Church (8220 Russell Rd.).

Good Shepherd supports all Saturday evenings in December, January, February, and March (February and March have been recently added). Volunteers are needed to:

  • Cook a main course at home for 35 people, deliver on Saturday at 6:30pm
  • Supply salad (with dressing), beverages, and dessert for 35 people and deliver to Rising Hope at 6:30pm on Saturday,
  • Serve dinner to the residents and clean-up; shift from 6:30 – 9:00pm. Must be 18 or over to enter the shelter.
  • Pickup 24 breakfast bags from Good Shepherd Catholic Church during the week (during office hours), also provide a bag of fresh fruit or a dozen hard-boiled eggs, deliver to Rising Hope on Saturday between 6:30 – 7pm.

Service Sunday

Sunday, February 4 after the 9am and 10:30am Mass
Stop by  for a donut and take a minute to help those is need
Make a breakfast bag to support the additional VIC-HOP weeks or make a card for our homebound parishioners.

Breakfast bag donations are needed for February and March – individual servings of protein (pop top or pouch tuna, peanut butter or chicken), fruit cups, drinks (fruit juice bottles, ensure), and cracker packs (plain, cheese, peanut butter)
