Ventures in Community Hypothermia Outreach Program (VIC-HOP)
Venture in Community’s Hypothermia Outreach Program (VIC-HOP) is a temporary overnight shelter operated by County staff and supported by volunteer faith and non-profit organizations December – March.
Good Shepherd supported Saturday evenings in December and January, and is now expanding coverage to Saturday evenings in February and March due to a shortage of volunteers. Volunteers are needed to:
- Cook a main course at home for 35 people, deliver on Saturday at 6:30pm
- Supply salad, beverages, and dessert for 35 people and deliver to Rising Hope at 6:30pm on Saturday,
- Serve dinner to the residents and clean-up; shift from 6:30 – 9:00pm. Must be 18 or over to enter the shelter.
- Pickup breakfast bags from Good Shepherd Catholic Church in the week (during office hours), also provide a bag of fresh fruit or a dozen hard-boiled eggs, deliver to Rising Hope on Saturday between 6:30 – 7:00pm.
