Rebuilding and Renewing the Life of Our Church

Lifting of the General Dispensation from the Obligation to Attend Mass

With the decrease in COVID cases and the increased availability of the vaccine, the Bishops of the Province of Baltimore and Archdiocese of Washington have lifted the dispensation for Mass beginning Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27. The obligation to attend Mass, as always, does not apply to those who are ill or anyone who has been exposed to a serious disease. We also continue to livestream all of our Masses which you can find here.

Rebuilding and Renewing the Life of Our Church

This weekend (the weekend of the May 29th), we take a number of major steps toward rebuilding and renewing the life of our church, particularly in our celebration of Sunday and daily Mass. Beginning Friday, May 28:

  • There are no social distancing requirements in our seating arrangements at Mass;
  • Persons fully vaccinated for the Covid-19 virus no longer need to wear a mask in any setting;
  • Unvaccinated persons are encouraged to wear face coverings;
  • No one will inquire into the vaccination status of parishioners;
  • No one will be prevented from entering our parish facilities for not wearing a face covering;

The following elements of our liturgical celebration which were suspended during the pandemic will gradually be reintroduced:

  • Holy water
  • Offertory collection
  • Presentation of the gifts of bread and wine by members of the assembly
  • Sign of peace (without physical contact between non-family members)

As always, I thank you for your cooperation in all of our efforts to keep one another safe and healthy during the time we have experienced the Covid-19 pandemic!
