Monday and Tuesday Complete . . .

The students have successfully completed the first two official days of WorkCamp and continue to have a great time! They are doing so much more than just helping the Shenandoah community and improving houses. On Monday we were joined by Father Ed Bresnahan for a Parish discussion and on Tuesday evening we had Adoration and Confessions following a dinner with Bishop Paul Loverde. Many more events are planned, including a talent show!
During preparations for WorkCamp, each of the students were asked to answer why they were going to WorkCamp and to complete the sentence, "Serving those in need relates to our faith in God because…" We received some wonderfully insightful answers from each of the students and were able to highlight them during our May 16th Silent Auction, Dinner and Raffle. They are all worth repeating, but a few we would like to share here in hopes that the reader can gain more insight into this life changing experience occurring in Shenandoah.
Ben wrote "I’m going to WorkCamp because…I have always enjoyed living out my faith through service to others. Work Camp is an excellent opportunity to serve my community and God. It also supports both physical and spiritual growth."
Carla wrote "Serving those in need relates to our faith in God because…God is in everyone and when we serve others we serve God."
Ciaran wrote "I’m going to WorkCamp because…I love to help people in need without having them recognize
you for it."
Jacob wrote "Serving those in need relates to our faith in God because…God has been generous enough to provide help to me in life, so it is only fitting I try to provide help to others."
Jon wrote "I’m going to WorkCamp because…Last year was such a great experience, both making friends and helping the community, I’m ready to dive back in and do it again!"
