November 14/15 is the Homeless Campout
Join us for the 3rd Annual Homeless Campout. This is a dynamic and popular program that is open to both teens and families. Participants register beginning at 2:00pm on November 14 and then work as teams to build a cardboard shelter for the night. There are rules and restrictions on the building to ensure the Campout is as authentic as possible. We then attend Mass at either 5:00pm or 6:30pm and follow it up with games and dinner at 7:30pm. All parishioners are invited to attend a presentation on homelessness at 8:30pm. The real challenge occurs around 10pm when all participants head outside to sleep in their shelters for the night. Creedon Hall is available as a "shelter" in case the weather gets too rough. The event will end with a sunrise prayer service and reflection at 7:00am on November 15. We hope all participants will then stay for the pancake breakfast beginning at 8:00am. Visit the YM Campout webpage to read more information, and complete a registration and/or permission form by November 9. |
