Feed the Hungry at Christ House during COVID-19
As we all adjust to our "new normal", remember that there are many people whose normal is daily hunger. That hasn't changed. Our help is needed more than ever.
In order to keep our volunteers safe, we are changing the way we provide meals for Christ House for the foreseeable future.
We are using a new sign-up tool. Please go to the Youth Ministry calendar to sign up to provide ready-made bagged lunches. You can prepare these in your own home, from items you already have on hand, and deliver them to Good Shepherd. It's that simple.
Please do what you can. Bless you!

Feed the Hungry at Christ House
On the 1st Thursday of each month we prepare and serve the evening meal for residents and the community at Christ House in Alexandria. We gather the night before (Wednesday) to cook and prepare the food.
Kevin L. says of his experience: "Christ House is a good place to meet new people. It really gives you a new perspective on many things. The people you meet are very nice and kind. This is a great opportunity to do community service. I've learned many things from this experience, for example how to cook for large groups. In the kitchen we usually have about six people and 2 people setting all the tables. Overall Christ House is just a good place to help people who are less fortunate than yourself."
Meet at Good Shepherd at 3:30pm to load up food (our menu is Skillet Turkey with vegetables and brown rice, Fruit Salad, Brownies).
Clean up and return to church by 6:30pm.
We usually serve 50 to 70 people, including men, women, children and teens.
4-5 youths are needed each time.
