Vocations Awareness Week
Sunday, November 7 is the start of National Vocations Awareness Week. This is a time for us to renew our commitment to promote vocations to the priesthood, the diaconate and the consecrated life, and to pray for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
Without neglecting prayer for those called to marriage and the single life, National Vocations Awareness Week draws our attention to those vocations which may not be as numerous, but which are nevertheless essential if the Church is to realize fully her calling to be the Body of Christ.
Who knows who among us in our parish may be called by God to serve as pastors and priests, or as servant leaders (deacons), or to profess the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience as religious sisters or brothers? Let us pray that those who hear God calling them to these particular vocations in the Church will respond courageously and affirmatively because they are certain of our prayerful and loving support of their willingness to answer this call.
