We reflect on our annual celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord in a unique way this year in the context of the Jubilee of Mercy.
Every Easter is a recollection of the historical event of Jesus’ rising from the dead. In the context of the great Jubilee, this year we also recall the resurrection as a sign of the mercy of God revealed in the triumph of life over death, the example of reconciliation and forgiveness, and the revelation of Jesus in the Breaking of the Bread – all of which are a part of the Easter story.
When we consider the mystery of Easter extended into our lives through the gift of Baptism, and the forgiveness of sins, our adoption as children of God and the gift of the Spirit we receive in that sacrament, we see even more abundant signs of God sharing Easter mercy with us.
This Easter, we proclaim with greater joy than ever: He is risen; He is risen indeed, and His mercy endures forever!
