Dear Parents,
We wanted to remind you that Sunday RE is canceled due to Mother's Day on May 10th. Monday RE will still meet May 11th. The following week, May 17th/18th, will be our last weekend.
Do you want to teach your children about serving others?
Come to an Information Meeting at Good Shepherd on Tuesday May 12th at 7:00pm for the new Families in Action group. Families in Action brings together families with children of all ages to participate in service opportunities in our community and beyond. Examples include working at Christ House, the Good Shepherd Sharing Garden, gathering supplies for the Hypothermia Shelter, and much more. If you have questions, contact the group's organizer Pooja Krumenacker.
Would you like to see the Nursery open on Sunday mornings?
You may have read that the Good Shepherd Mom's Group is organizing the re-opening of the Nursery during the 9:00 and 10:30 Masses. The Nursery will be a Co-op Nursery which means that all families who use the Nursery will also volunteer their time approximately once every two months. Prior to volunteering, adults must become fully compliant with Safe Environment regulations for the protection of children. This compliance involves attending a one-time Seminar (www.virtus.org) and completing the background check paperwork.
If we do not have enough families interested and able to volunteer (a minimum of 16 are needed), then we will be unable to reopen the Nursery.
Please contact Kelly Edmonson if you are interested in having the Nursery open at 9:00 or 10:30 Mass so she can add your name to the list. Please do so before May 15 so we can determine if there are enough interested families to proceed.
July 20th - 24th - Vacation Bible School - Registration Open
It is official! VBS will be July 20 - 24 from 9:30 - 12:30pm. The theme this year is Nazareth: When Jesus was a Kid. You may register to participate or volunteer on-line. Check the website for more details.
Have you registered for 2015 - 2016 Religious Education yet?
Classes are already filling up so if you still need to register for this fall, you can come by at the following times to register: Monday, Wednesday and Friday ONLY from 10 - 5. The deadline to register is June 30th. Check the website for more information.
Got Faith? Pass it on, and be a Catechist or Assistant Catechist!
As this year winds down, and we begin registration for the Fall, I hope you will prayerfully consider sharing your talents as a Catechist. We support you along the way with practical training in class management, discipline strategies, and how to make a lesson plan. We also will start offering training through Catholic Distance University (cdu.edu) which will not only allow you to be prepared for class but also enrich your faith as well - all from the comfort of your home. More information is available through Joan on course offerings and cost, joan@gs-cc.org.
Join this rewarding ministry now! Contact stacy@gs-cc.org (K-6) or rosie@gs-cc.org (middle school/high school) if you are interested or looking for more information. If you have a passion for your faith and an eagerness to share it - you will be perfect!
Happy Mothers Day!
