Resources for Respect Life Month
October is Respect Life Month, an annual reminder of our vocation to Live the Gospel of Life! Living the Gospel of Life requires action: service, advocacy and prayer. Our service is motivated by a respect for the dignity each person possesses because we are all created in the image and likeness of God. Advocacy means choosing leaders who will respect and protect the gift of life, and raising our voices on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves – especially the unborn. We pray always, but especially during this Respect Life Month we pray that all people everywhere will protect and care for human life from conception until natural death. In this Respect Life month and at all times, we ask God to increase in the hearts of all people a spirit of gratitude for the gift of life. Let us also joyfully embrace our calling to Live the Gospel of Life by consciously seeking to see the face of God in every person who is created in His image and likeness!

Domestic Violence Awareness Month
In October, we observe National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is a serious, preventable problem that affects 12 million American men, women and children every year. One in four women and one in nine men have been affected by severe domestic violence, which includes physical and sexual violence, psychological aggression and stalking. Countless children have witnessed this violence, which disrupts their development and imposes tremendous suffering on them. Watch Bishop Burbidge’s Message to learn more.
