(MSFF) Confirmation Reflections
Good Shepherd Catholic Church
The disciples, who lived in community with Jesus, learned to pray and reflect by listening to and imitating Jesus, whose whole life was prayer. The Holy Spirit of Jesus is in us, and speaks through us when we pray and reflect. The Holy Spirit helps our spirit to pray, and so we should say again and again, "Come, Holy Spirit, come and help me to pray."
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created, and you will renew the face of the earth. Lord, By the light of the Holy Spirit you have taught the hearts of your faithful. In the same Spirit help us to relish what is right and always rejoice in your consolation. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
-a Traditional Prayer to the Holy Spirit

- Why do you want to be Confirmed? Receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation is a decision that each candidate must make on their own. This is no longer up to your parents, or to anybody other than you! So why do you want to go through with this? Due on October 6, 2011
- Who is your Sponsor, and why did you ask them to sponsor you? A Sponsor should help guide you through this journey and support you as you grow in your Catholic faith. This is an important decision, and we would like to hear why you chose the person you did. Due on November 17, 2011, with Sponsor Commitment Form
- What have you chosen as your Confirmation name? The name must be a Biblical name or the name of a Catholic Saint, and it should mean something to you. Therefore, we want to know why you chose the name you did. What Saint or Biblical character has inspired you and why? (www.catholic.org/saints) Due on January 5, 2012
- Which of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit do you think you need most in your life right now and why? (The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, Fear of the Lord). Due on March 10, 2012
