GIFT OF TREASURE
As Catholics, we respond to our baptismal calling by giving of ourselves: our time, talent, and treasure. Our stewardship goal is for Parishioners to realize this calling by giving as their conscience, resources, and talents dictate. Gifts of treasure resources are important to support our ministries, to maintain and enhance our parish facilities, and to fund the operation of our Parish. All of these areas are essential in ensuring that we have a warm and welcoming spiritual home and an opportunity to fulfill our vision and mission as stated in our Parish Pastoral Plan.
We ask all parishioners to commit to regular, planned, sacrificial giving through the offertory collections--either by envelopes or electronically. Each fall we conduct a Stewardship Commitment and Renewal Process. This is an opportunity for each Parish family to assess their level of giving and commit to supporting their Parish in the coming year. We suggest that you plan your gift as part of your monthly budget. We pray that each Parish family will realize the importance of making these choices and following through on their commitments.
OFFERTORY ENVELOPES
Unless you request otherwise, each registered family will receive a packet of envelopes approximately every 4-6 weeks. If you are not receiving envelopes via mail and you wish to do so, simply email our staff and request offertory envelopes to be sent to you. Email us at office@gs-cc.org
ELECTRONIC GIVING
We have introduced a new way for you to support our parish offertory, Holy Day, and second collections: Faith Direct (read Father Tom's Invitation). With Faith Direct, you can make regular, automatic contributions to Good Shepherd using your bank account or credit/debit card--the same process you might use to pay utility bills or make car payments.
Making your donations automatically means relief from the hassle of locating your offertory envelopes as you run out the door for Mass and guarantees that the church will receive your gifts even if you are unable to attend Mass due to illness or travel. There is no fee for parishioners to use Faith Direct.
Automatic contributions greatly benefit Good Shepherd by providing a predictable cash flow, more accurate budgeting, and decreasing the time and expenses of the envelope system. Faith Direct will provide you with personalized offertory cards that you may place in the basket as well as a year-end tax statement.
You can enroll in this program by picking up an enrollment form from the church office, or by enrolling securely online. Our parish code is VA208. Please contact a member of the Finance Council or Stewardship Committee for additional information.
TAX RECEIPTS
We appreciate the generous support we receive from our parishioners. For tax purposes, we will mail receipts for all contributions made by electronic contributions, check or weekly envelopes at the end of each year—normally by the end of January.
