Got Faith? Pass it on...Become a Catechist!
“It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain” John 15:16
The Kindergarten through twelfth grade program is dedicated to helping parents to raise their children in the Catholic faith by offering a variety of programs for children, families and parents. You can help them learn and grow by becoming a catechist of Faith Formation.
The Diocese of Arlington requires all volunteers over 18 to be VIRTUS trained and background check cleared in order to provide a Safe Environment for our children.
VIRTUS is the brand name that identifies best practices programs designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote "rightdoing" within religious organizations. The VIRTUS programs empower organizations and people to better control risk and improve the lives of all those who interact with the Church.
You may pick up the background check paperwork at the front office and turn it in there as well.
You may register for VIRTUS training: www.virtus.org.
Your faith can grow as well!
Deepen your faith and knowledge on-line in the comfort of your home through Catholic Distance University-(www.cdu.edu).
You can take seminars or Independent Study classes through CDU. These classes are flexible in terms of time and outside assignments, that it's a really wonderful way to deepen your faith without a tremendous expenditure of additional time.
The Independent Study classes are truly 'independent', they do not rely upon students logging in to a virtual classroom at a particular day and time. You can complete the course assignments on your own schedule and your own pace.
The Diocese of Arlington has a partnership with CDU which reduces the cost to only $30. We will reimburse you for one class once you complete it. More information to come or contact Joan, firstname.lastname@example.org.
