Be: An rcia team Member!

OUR MISSION:  To provide an open, welcoming, and informative environment for individuals seeking to learn more about Catholicism. Through sharing our own experiences and the Church’s teachings, to help them to grow into strong and well-rounded Catholics.

WHY WE DO IT:  To serve God, to build relationships with others, and to deepen our own faith. And it’s a lot of fun, too!

WHEN WE DO IT The time commitment is just two Wednesday evenings a month!*  On the first Wednesday of each month, we have a meeting with all RCIA participants on a specific theme of Catholic Teaching, such as the Mass, the Sacraments, Living as a Catholic, Social Justice, etc.  On the third Wednesday of the month, the RCIA Team comes together for a Team meeting.

INTERESTED?  Contact us at rcia@gs-cc.org to learn more about being an RCIA Team member and to sign up to get involved!

*note:  if you are interested in serving in RCIA, but Wednesday evenings are a problem for you, please contact us about a Sunday-only option!

RCIA Team Roles

All Team members participate in Monthly Meetings, Team Meetings, and build relationships with our catechumens and candidates.

Secretary:  records Team meeting activity, keeps everyone informed, and coordinates the B.O.W. and meeting calendars.

Hospitality Coordinator(s):  plans social events (such as periodic brunches) for team members, candidates, catechumens and their families and sponsors to get to know each other better and build community.

Sponsor Coordinator:  provides periodic training sessions and encouragement to our sponsors. Also maintains a list of available sponsors and matches them to catechumens and candidates as needed.

Catechetical Coordinator(s):  develops lesson plans for our 10 monthly meetings, inviting speakers and involving the RCIA Team to teach the foundations of our faith.

Retreat Coordinator:  organizes periodic day retreats and/or mornings of reflection for both the catechumens and candidates and the RCIA  Team.

Parish Liaison:  helps to build awareness about RCIA in our parish community and beyond, recruiting new people to participate and parishioners to get involved.

Liturgical Coordinator:  works with our parish Director of Liturgy to coordinate the 4 liturgical ceremonies that are involved in RCIA:  the Rite of Acceptance, the Rite of Election, the Scrutinies and the Easter Vigil.

B.O.W. Team:  facilitates our Sunday Breaking Open the Word sessions.
